At Ability Today, we know first-hand how vital Access to Work is for helping disabled people enter and stay in employment. This government scheme provides practical support from assistive tech to workplace adjustments and travel — enabling many disabled people to pursue careers and remain in meaningful work.
However, despite its potential, Access to Work is too often underused, misunderstood, and hampered by delays and inconsistencies.
That’s why we’re supporting the newly formed Access to Work Collective, an independent community created by Dr Shani Dhanda and Jacqueline Winstanley FRSA, bringing together disabled people, employers, researchers, suppliers, and policymakers — all working to ensure Access to Work truly works for everyone who needs it.
As part of this mission, the Collective has launched an important Impact of Access to Work Survey, open to:
- Disabled people who use or have used Access to Work
- Employers involved with Access to Work
- Suppliers delivering Access to Work services or equipment
Your voice matters. By sharing your experiences — whether positive, frustrating, or mixed — you can help build a clearer, stronger case for improving Access to Work and ensuring it serves everyone equitably.
The survey is open until 20th June 2025 — don’t miss your chance to have your say.
👉 Take the survey now (you can also email: accesstoworkcollective@gmail.com for more details)
Together, we can help create a system that empowers, enables, and supports disabled people at every stage of their employment journey.
