The ‘What Matters?’ survey provides crucial insights into issues affecting people with SCI and their families. Your responses guide Spinal Injuries Association’s (SIA) work—shaping campaigns, services, and changes where they’re needed most. Last year, over 900 responses highlighted the key challenges of living with SCI, driving meaningful action.
This feedback has enabled initiatives like the 2-year Travel with Confidence project, the paralysed bowel campaign, mental health training for healthcare professionals, and regional specialist support teams. It also informed our successful Rebuilding Lives Conference, which launched SIA’s Call for Action to improve rehabilitation pathways and care.
We know NHS care for SCI often falls short, and challenges like accessible transport still impact your confidence and independence. That’s why your input in the 2025 survey is vital. It will shape future campaigns, build a knowledge hub for the community, and help create a stronger long-term vision for SCI care.
So, tell us! What should we be expanding? What should we be fighting for on your behalf? Your stories are at the centre of what we do, and your responses will help shape the service we provide.
