Our Mission
Ability Today is dedicated to empowering disabled individuals through education, enabling them to overcome barriers and achieve their dreams in media, journalism, and beyond. Founded after a life-altering accident motivated our founder, Grant Logan, to promote equal opportunities, we have supported over 100 disabled students, with alumni securing roles at prestigious establishments such as the BBC, ITV, and Newsquest.
Our Achievements
In 2025, Ability Today stands proudly as an award-winning social enterprise. Each year, 20-30 new students join our accessible, online Academy to pursue the Certificate in Foundation Journalism (CFJ), Diploma levels in journalism, and SEO courses. Our weekly classes are led by NCTJ tutors and feature masterclasses from esteemed media professionals, providing invaluable industry insights and career pathways.
Breaking Down Barriers
Ability Today is changing lives by providing essential software, hardware, and tailored support to ensure our students overcome any barriers in their path. This includes additional monitors, accessible keyboards, text-to-speech software, and more, allowing students to study and take exams remotely.
Recognised Excellence
Our efforts have been recognised with awards, including the 2022 NCTJ Excellence Award for Equality, Diversity, & Inclusion in Journalism. We have been finalists in the Tech4Good Awards, The National Diversity Awards, The British Diversity Awards, Diversability Awards, The Inclusive Awards and our founder, Grant Logan, has been nominated for the fourth consecutive year as one of the most influential disabled people in the UK.
Looking Forward
Our journey continues as we explore new opportunities. We are in discussions with a financial services company to launch the first Academy for Disabled Bookkeepers and with Google to provide coding qualifications. These new courses, combined with our journalism and SEO programs, will create a comprehensive online educational environment where all students, regardless of their disabilities, can thrive.
