Hamse Completes ITV Green Room Scheme and Expands His Creative Career

Former Academy CFJ student Hamse has completed the ITV Green Room scheme, describing the professional development programme as a “fantastic experience”.

Over the past year, Hamse has increasingly moved into the creative side of the media, particularly documentary filmmaking. He has established his own production company and successfully secured grant funding to train under-represented groups in documentary filmmaking and digital content creation.

Hamse has also continued to develop his skills, recently taking part in a content creation course delivered by Media Trust at Meta’s London office.

Reflecting on his experience, Hamse said:

“It has been a great honour to complete the ITV Green Room scheme, a professional development programme for freelance creatives working in film and television.

“Going to ITV’s White City studios every week and learning from some of the best in the business was an eye-opening experience. It gave me valuable insight into the fast-changing world of commercial television and entertainment.

“The programme has greatly improved my understanding of the commercial side of television, including how to pitch to commissioners and understand what they are looking for. Being part of such an amazing cohort was also fascinating and motivating.

“I am more hopeful about my creative and journalistic career than ever before, and I am very grateful for the opportunity.”

Although Hamse’s career is developing in a more creative direction, the skills gained through his CFJ continue to play an important role.

“My journalism course is still useful because I am still involved in the storytelling business,” he added.
