We remember Oliver Stevens with great affection and gratitude as a valued volunteer and much-loved member of the Ability Today community.
Oliver volunteered with Ability Today through Surrey Choices, generously giving his time and bringing real personality to everything he did. He had a wonderful knack for sourcing interesting and engaging videos, and his enthusiasm, curiosity, and humour always shone through. Oliver was very much his own character, and working alongside him was always a pleasure.
Living with MPS II (Hunter syndrome), Oliver faced significant challenges with courage, warmth, and a trademark cheeky smile. He approached life with honesty and determination, and his love of digital content and storytelling reflected his curiosity about the world and his desire to connect with others. Oliver showed us, simply by being himself, the value of inclusion, creativity, and being given the opportunity to contribute in meaningful ways.
Although his life was far too short, Oliver leaves behind many fond memories and a lasting impression on all of us who were lucky enough to know him. He will be remembered not only for the work he did, but for the joy, laughter, and individuality he brought with him.
Our thoughts are with Oliver’s family and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time. He will always hold a special place in the Ability Today family and will not be forgotten.
