ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A NEW CAREER? DO YOU HAVE A PASSION FOR WRITING & COULD JOURNALISM BE YOUR NEXT JOURNEY?

Cfj Student Certs Landscape Collage

In partnership with the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ), Ability Today is delivering entry level and diploma level journalism courses where disabled individuals can over come obstacles and thrive in a classroom setting from the comfort of their own home.

The Academy for DisabledJournalists is breaking down barriers in media with online classes tailored to the unique needs of the disabled person. Over 90 students have passed through our Academy to date with alumni now working full time at media organisations like the BBC, ITV, and Newsquest.

The next Certificate in Foundation Journalism course starts on May 30 2024 with weekly 1.5 hour sessions over a period of 9 months. This is a distance learning course which also requires self study and assessments to gain the qualification.

Interested applicants need to submit a 300-word news article via the Ability Today website by May 16.

The Academy for Disabled Journalists will launch our 3rd Diploma level later this year, with many CFJ graduates continuing their journey with us.

Emily Davison, ADJ CFJ Alumni, epitomises the impact of Ability Today’s support, stating, “Ability Today has given me the most amazing opportunity. When I applied to study for a certificate in foundation journalism, I never imagined that a year later I would be starting my new job as a trainee journalist with Newsquest.”

Join the Movement: “We are seeing more and more disabled journalists and TV presenters in the media, but there’s still a massive lack of talent behind the scenes, [including] newsrooms, and production companies, we are just at the start of this journey.” Grant Logan Founder Ability Today
