“We found out when I was 17 weeks pregnant that Louis had Spina Bifida” — Family Fund

Louis condition and how it affects him

Louis lives in Dunbar, Scotland with his mum Louise, Dad Steven, and little brother Luke. Louise explains that Louis had to have quite few operations following his birth. “He had to have an operation to close his spinal cord and he had to have a shunt in his brain for his hydrocephalus. He also has epilepsy that we just found out about recently, autism, a neuropathic bowel and Chiari malformation.”

“Now Louis is twelve he is getting to that age where he notices people sometimes staring, and it upsets him and us. It’s not a nice conversation to have with him about why people would stare. It’s mostly adults, children will just come up and ask a question which is so much better.”
