Visually impaired actors 'asked to pretend they can see less' than they actually can for TV roles – My London

Being asked to play roles in which the character can see less than the real-life actor is just one of the political hurdles which visually-impaired actors face when navigating the complicated issue of accessibility.
Actors Gillian Dean, 40, and Robin Paley Yorke, 29, both starring in a new accessible play as part of Bloomsbury Festival 2021 this weekend, have often experienced “the opposite” of losing out on acting roles due to their disabilities.
Rather, they have much more often been asked to act less sighted than they actually are.
