Repairs to public facilities can be slow, but users of a train station have been waiting 35 years for its lift to be fixed.
Disabled campaigners and residents say they have been met with ‘excuse after excuse’ over why the lift at Pokesdown, Bournemouth, has been out of action since 1987, despite the station getting £5.7million in improvement funds last January.
Responding to a question from local MP Tobias Ellwood, rail minister Huw Merriman said last week that work on the lift will start in the next two years.
