A frequent subject of coverage in this column over the years, Ireland-based literacy software maker Texthelp has announced it will extend access, free of charge, to its Read&Write app to customers’ family members—including family members of employees. The company shared the news of the so-called Read&Write Free for Family in a press release published last month.
Founder and CEO Martin McKay discussed the move in a YouTube video.
“With over 40 million users worldwide, Read&Write has become a loyal companion to people who think, work, and learn differently,” Texthelp said in a statement that was included in the press release. “Texthelp chose to give its literacy software to users’ families due to the fact that research has shown a hereditary link to many neurodiverse conditions. This commitment will coincide with Texthelp’s goal of advancing the literacy of [one] billion people by 2030.”
