We’re at an unprecedented point in time where nearly all of us are being profoundly impacted by the early stage spread of the coronavirus. There have been a few other occurrences in our lifetimes where we’ve witnessed such a deep impact upon society. Two that come to mind are the attacks of 9/11 and the financial meltdown of 2008, though realistically the impact of those events were modest in comparison to what we’re faced with at present. In terms of broad sociological disruption, I think it’s accurate to say that most of us have not been through anything like what’s occurring with the current pandemic.
