Southampton doctors are taking part in a world-first trial which could change treatment for multiple sclerosis patients.
The study, being carried out locally by doctors at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, aims to find out if using stem cell therapy could help.
Multiple sclerosis, known as MS, is a condition caused by the immune system attacking the protective lining of the nerve fibres in the brain and spinal cord.
This can lead to problems with movement, vision and balance as well as numbness, tingling, muscle stiffness and spasms which get worse over time.
