New video launched to help adults with learning disabilities stay safe online – Sussex Express

New video launched to help adults with learning disabilities stay safe online – Sussex Express

The animated film, ‘Safety Net’, has been developed as an accessible guide to keep everyone safe online and is specifically aimed at adults with a learning disability and autistic people. SUS-220215-151509001

 
Commissioned by East Sussex County Council Learning Disability Services, the project has been managed by Lewes-based arts charity Culture Shift, working with the University of Brighton’s Community21 research group.
The accessible video, which is available for anyone to view or use, has been created in collaboration with learning disabled adults and professionals from the learning disability sector. The soundtrack is provided by the rock band Delta 7, made up of seven people from Eastbourne who all have learning disabilities.
Councillor Carl Maynard, lead member for adult social care and health at East Sussex County Council, said “This video, which is a fantastic example of great partnership working, will help support the more vulnerable members of our communities in their digital lives.
