A NEW epilepsy drug capable of preventing all of someone’s seizures will be subsidised by the Turnbull Government.
The new drug, known as Perampanel, has been hailed as “life-changing” in the treatment of patients with particularly severe epilepsy.
Almost 6500 patients across Australia will now receive much-needed support to take the medicine, saving families thousands of dollars each year.
From August 1, Perampanel will be listed on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) for children older than 12 and adults with severe epilepsy.
Each patient and their family will save a little elss than $5000 each year, and they will not pay any more than $39.50 per script.
