An elderly man with Parkinson’s says his pain switched off “like magic” once he put on a new eye device that helps improve the motor symptoms of the disease. Derrick Walker, 73, had been unable to do several activities he previously enjoyed after suffering from Parkinson’s disease for 15 years until he put on the device in May 2022.
The device, a wearable aid that lines up the visual field with no batteries, wires or plugs, was created by Sandra McDonough, 60, from Spalding, who discovered that a knitting marker on her glasses improved her own Parkinson’s symptoms. Ms McDonough’s company Eye Guide MC Ltd recently won the Innovation Award at the Lincolnshire Live Business Awards 2022.
