An East Yorkshire mum who suffered a brain injury has told how a new tracker device has transformed her family’s life.
Nichole Atkin, from Hessle, was afraid to leave her home after the injury brought on epilepsy. Having previously been very physically active – teaching Tai chi, running, and getting involved in activities with a local youth centre – everything stopped for Nichole after her accident in 2017.
The mum, who is in her fifties, had burst some internal stitches after surgery and was at her GP’s for an examination when she got off the bed, passed out and “bounced” her head off the concrete floor. She said: “I popped four discs in my neck and four in the lower back. Life changed, I looked like I had had a stroke.
