‘I want to show that having a learning disability doesn’t stop me’ – My London

An East London man is determined to show that a learning disability and health condition are not enough to stop you from achieving your goals. Aaron Plummer, 22, has a learning disability and cerebral palsy but he has completed the London Marathon three times.

In 2020, he applied to be one of 10 runners with a learning disability to run the marathon. Sadly, the Covid-19 pandemic meant Aaron had to do it virtually in his home town of Walthamstow but the next year, he made sure to make up for it.

He told MyLondon: “For my first London Marathon it was just a dream come true to be able to run it. Lockdown happened and it was changed to a virtual marathon, so I decided to do it again the year after properly. Then a couple of days after my second marathon, I applied again because it was such an amazing experience. Running the London Marathon is indescribable.
