A couple on Grand Designs were reduced to tears after sharing the heartbreaking reason for building their new home. John and Helen appear on the latest edition of the hit Channel 4 show, which is hosted by Kevin McCloud.
The couple, from Dunstable, had lived in a 17th-century farmhouse since they married in 2007. But after Helen suffered from a stroke in 2018, they wanted to make a fresh start.
As a result of the stroke, Helen was left with aphasia, affecting her ability to communicate. She also struggled with the stairs and narrow doorways in their farmhouse because of mobility issues.
