Families share benefits of electrical stimulation therapy on children with Spina Bifida – krcgtv.com

Physical therapist Gerti Motavalli has been working with Spina Bifida patients like 6-year-old Luke Freeman since he was 5 weeks old. Since using spinal stimulation, Luke has become significantly more mobile and has found an increase in sensation. (Lexie Petrovic/KRCG13).

Studies have found only 43 percent of Spina Bifida patients will ever be able to get up off the floor, stand up or walk after being diagnosed.

However, physical therapist Gerti Motavalli is working to help kids beat the odds. Motavalli, who is based out of Columbia, said it all began with the idea of electrical stimulation therapy.
