Rugby great Doddie Weir has asked the health secretary to put Motor Neurone Disease patients on the ‘very vulnerable’ list during the coronavirus pandemic.

The former Newcastle Falcons player was diagnosed with MND in 2017. He set up a charity to raise funds for research into the disease and has actively campaigned to raise awareness since then. It was revealed in January that Weir’s charity, My Name’5 Doddie, has invested almost £4 million into MND research.
