Disability Must Stop Being Workplace D&I’s Poor Relation, Says Disabled Conservative Peer – Forbes

The Conservative peer charged with chairing a groundbreaking commission reporting on critical issues feeding into the U.K. government’s National Strategy For Disabled People says it’s high time disability inclusion is accorded equal weight to other parts of the diversity spectrum.

Last week, the Centre for Social Justice’s Disability Commission published “Now Is The Time,” a report exploring ways of addressing the country’s disability employment gap.

Lord Kevin Shinkwin (pictured above), who was born with Osteogenesis imperfecta, also known as brittle bone disease, says lawmakers are failing to offer disabled people similar safeguards to those enjoyed by other populations with protected characteristics.
