A new tick-borne virus has arrived in the UK, and experts are warning people they need to protect themselves from being bitten
Tick-borne encephalitis (TBEV) has been detected in areas including Dorset, Hampshire and Norfolk, while the first ever confirmed domestically acquired case has been found in Yorkshire.
People are being warned the virus may also be present in other parts of the country as the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) says the species of tick which carry the disease is widespread in the UK.
