Crossley Park is ablaze with colour thanks to the Rotary Club of Amber Valley.
Rotary International has been supporting the world eradication of polio for several years – and purple is the colour associated with the campaign, because when a child is vaccinated by the programme, they have a finger dyed purple.
In the UK many Rotary Clubs have planted crocuses to promote the campaign, so each year the purple flowers are a reminder. The Rotary Club of Amber Valley planted several hundred in Crossley Park about five years ago, but in 2019, the mild weather has brought about a particularly good and early purple display.
