‘Calm and peaceful’: New autism riding centre for children opens in Pennington – The Westmorland Gazette

A NEW South Lakeland riding school is one of the first centres in the country to provide specialised equestrian lessons for children diagnosed with autism.

Unicorns and Rainbows in Pennington, was set up this month by co-owners Michelle Phizacklea, of Ulverston, and Jane Armstrong-Lancaster, of Coniston. Currently around 12 local children are enjoying the equestrian therapy it provides.

Michelle has been working with young people with autism for the past 30 years and is also an experienced horse rider.
