Businesses have been urged to make their workplaces more inclusive for adults with learning disabilities after ministers announced a new initiative to help over 2,000 adults with learning difficulties and autism into work.
It comes as figures revealed that just 2 in 10 adults with autism are currently in employment, despite over 700,000 people in the UK having the condition.
As part of the plan, grant funding will be provided to 24 local authorities to support between 60 and 140 adults with learning difficulties, autism, or both move into competitive employment.
