Autism workshops prove popular in the town – Swindon Advertiser

AUTISM workshops that help people affected by the disorder in Wiltshire are rising in popularity.

The workshops are run for friends, family members, professionals and those with or without an ASD diagnosis who would like to know more about the disorder.

The sessions, run in Corsham, Bath and Bristol are run by trainer Helen Eaton, whose 10-year-old son has autism and inspired her to learn more.

Workshops have proved so popular that people from the town are making the journey to Corsham to attend.

Helen said: “It is to improve the lives of autistic people, build better relationships with their loved ones and help parents, carers or any other professionals to deal with any challenges they may face.

“Demand is so high that people are travelling from Swindon, Somerset and Dorset in order to learn more about autism

She delivers the two-and-a-half hour workshops as part of the Curly Hair Project’s workshops, written by Alis Rowe, who was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome when she was 22.

“It is very fun, light-hearted and told in cartoon form. There is no pressure and everyone can learn something

“I am very pleased and delighted that we have had such a positive response to the workshops. On a personal level also it has really helped me because it can be very difficult knowing how to deal with the challenges of ASD. It has helped me with my son.

Tickets are £15.10 per person plus booking fees, to find out details of future workshops or to book tickets visit thegirlwiththecurlyhair.co.uk/events/
