Autism assessments resume in Guernsey – ITV News

Children who are thought to be autistic can be assessed in Guernsey once again, following a 5 month wait.

Health and Social Care paused the service in October while a specialist paedatrician, who’s now been replaced, left the job.

As the diagnostic process is long and extensive, once the Health and Social Care team knew about the doctor’s departure they decided to temporarily suspend bringing in new cases until they knew when the paediatric support could resume.

A formal diagnosis cannot be made without an appropriately experienced paediatrician.
