Asperger’s Syndrome is now under ASD

Asperger’s syndrome used to be an independent diagnosis from autism spectrum disorder. In 2013, the term became part of one umbrella of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders 5 (DSM-5). Asperger’s syndrome is no longer an independent diagnosis, but a part of ASD. Regardless of where your child falls on the autism spectrum, it’s essential to understand the symptoms.
