Royal visit to mark Bath charity Designability’s 50 years – Somerset Live

A Bath charity is set to showcase 50 years of its work this week when Prince Edward attends its anniversary celebrations.

Designability, based at the Royal United Hospital, aims to transform the lives of disabled people and those living with long-term health conditions.

It creates tailor-made products for each of its patients, such as a bespoke shower trolley for a woman with brittle bone disease.

The charity has helped 250,000 people in its half century.

The charity mission statement reads: “We want better technology to be more accessible to everyone.

“Our team follow the principles of human-centred design which means that everything we develop is done in response to what people tell us they need.

“Our aim is for people to achieve greater independence and happiness in their lives – goals that benefit all of society.”
